History of Grama Panchayat
The socio-cultural history of the Triprangottur region is closely linked with the feudal land system and social progress. In the early period, land was under the control of landlords (Jenmis) and Devaswoms (temple authorities). After 1948, rubber cultivation began through land transfers. The people of the region actively participated in the Indian freedom struggle and the Quit India Movement. Many local residents served in the Indian National Army (INA), strengthening the region’s patriotic legacy. In 1929, Triprangottur Village was formed; later it was divided into Poyilur and Triprangottur, and in 1962 the two were reunified.
